A Târgu Mureread’s interior designer tells how it has transformed a small apartment into a vintage space, using a decorative wall bicycle and other classic elements.
As an interior designer, I was invited to transform a small apartment from Târgu Mureș into an elegant and intimate space, with style vintage. The owners, a young couple passionate about antiques, wanted a hot atmosphere, to reflect their love for the past, but also for the unique objects that tell a story. From the first meeting, they showed me a series of photos with various styles that inspired them, but they conquered me immediately when they talked about an old bicycle they had and wanted to include in the final design of the apartment. At the beginning, I was surprised by this choice, but over time I realized that this element had to become the central point of the entire agreement.
When I visited the apartment for the first time, I realized that the space was relatively small and the distribution of the rooms required a creative thinking. However, I immediately saw its potential. stayFor example, he had a large window that flooded the natural light room, which I wanted to make the most of it. The walls were white, simple, without too many details, which gave me a perfect canvas to create that feeling of comfort and privacy that the owners were looking for.

When we discussed more in detail on what they really wanted, the old bike returned to question. It was a piece that had a huge sentimental value for them, being a family object transmitted from generation to generation. Although it was no longer functional, he had that special charm and the owners wanted to be integrated in a creative way, as a piece of piece of vintage furniture.
I decided that the ideal place for this bike would be the wall in the living room, just above the sofa. Initially, I had restrictions in AO as a central piece, but with some adjustments and discreet support, the bicycle has become the focal point of the entire room. Not only did he offer the personality to the space, but he also brought that feeling of history and history that the owners were looking for.
The walls of the living room They were painted in neutral tone, a hot beige, to highlight the bicycle and the other vintage elements that we would have led to the apartment. I completed the wall with a gallery of paintings with old frames, in which we have exposed vintage illustrations, some discoveries also in the senior fairs of Târgu Mureyond. These paintings not only brought color, but they perfectly dressed the bicycle, framing it in the history of design.
As for the furniture, we have chosen vintage piecesWith classic accents, but to maintain modern functionality. The sofaFor example, it has been covered with a soft and dusty gray material, which adapts perfectly to the style of the apartment. I added some decorative cushions with vintage floral motifs, which brought a pleasant contrast between modern and old.
In the dining roomI managed to create a small oasis of vintage elegance. The massive wood mass, which I found in an antiques in the city, was completed by padded chairs in a classic, but comfortable style. At the center of the table I put a manually blown glass chandelier, which brought a discreet luxury air. This corner of the apartment was perfect for moments of relaxation and socialization and the elements chosen with care with contributed to the warm atmosphere that the owners wanted.
Another detail that transformed the space was floors. I opted for a light wooden parquet, which not only visually the apartment, but also offered a nice contrast with the pieces of vintage furniture. Equally important was the carpet, I chose one in green shades, with a geometric motif inspired by the 60s, which brought a fresh, but at the same time nostalgic air.
Food It was another challenge, with a rather limited space. However, we managed to maintain the vintage style without compromising the functionality. The wardrobes were reconditioned, painted in a dirty white shade and the old bronze handles added that vintage air. The wooden work surface was another inspired choice, which offers a warm contrast with the vintage tiles chosen for the wall.
Finally, the apartment in Târgu Mureyond It has become a real vintage jewel. The bike on the wall, the central piece of the living room, not only transformed the space into a single place, but brought with it a family history and a feeling of belonging that cannot be replaced. The owners were happy with the result and they impressed me how well this unusual object integrated into a vintage furnishings, without seeming to move.
The story of this apartment is a proof of the fact that sometimes the most unique and personal objects can become central elements in an interior design, giving it uniqueness and emotional value. Whether you organize a small or large space, the key to success is to find the balance between functionality, aesthetics and stories that give life to the house.
