Every year, the Pantone Institute gives the tone in terms of colors. The color chosen by Pantone in 2018 is ultra purple.
For some, Ultra Violet may seem like a bold choice, especially with respect to green, the color of 2017 (not to mention the relaxing tones of pink quartz and serenity in 2016). But how did this sudden change occur?
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said:
«We live in a world that requires inventiveness and imagination. Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet, is a blue violet that leads our consciousness and potential to a higher level. From the exploration of new technologies and a wider part of the galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, the ultra intuitive purple the way it must come.»
This year it will bring great changes in the world of design. It seems that a landscape full of neutral colors and subtlety will make room for a more daring aesthetic. Maybe this will be only the first step.
